Jones offers students free benefits for mental, physical well being

While attending Jones College, students are not only greeted with educational programs, but also a variety of benefits that complete the whole college experience.

The Bobcat Fitness Center, located in the D.O. Thoms P.E. Building, offers students gym access along with fitness classes. It houses a variety of gym equipment, as well as lockers and showers for the students. To access this facility, students must have an active Jones ID card, scanning it upon entry.

Jones sophomore Alex Guy said, “I like the gym on campus because it gives me something to do with friends at no extra cost.”

Intramural Sports are also a benefit when attending Jones. By signing up through the IMLeagues app, students are able to compete against other colleges and play a variety of sports. The Intramural office is located in the D.O. Thoms P.E. Building.

Fitness Center Manager Levon Jones said, “Any student that is interested in any exercise program can come see me and tell me their goals, then I will make an exercise program that is appropriate for them.”

Jones also offers a free Campus Clinic, located in the Home and Health Services Building. A full time nurse practitioner, Vicki Hampton, awaits any student in need during the school day. Students can schedule an appointment by calling (601) 477-4104, or by emailing campusclinic@jcjc.edu.

Counseling is also offered to students through the Office of Student Affairs, located on the first floor of the Administration Building. Students are able to discuss with the counselors any concerns by scheduling an appointment over the phone by calling (601)477-4070, or by emailing sarah.jones@jcjc.edu.

Students are also welcome to the food pantry, funded through donations and school events,  located in the Campus Clinic on the Jones Campus. The Bobcat Closet, which is available to any student in need of professional attire, is in Room 225 on the second floor of the JB Young Business Building.

Free tutoring services are also available by appointment. Students can email jonestutoring@jcjc.edu or call (601) 477-5455, to book a study session in the Terrell Tisdale Library.
