Jones’ basketball defeats Southwest

On Feb. 13, Jones College basketball would head to Summit, Miss. to play against Southwest Community College. 

The men, who faced East Central in a blowout 93-65 win on Monday, would take yet another win by a score of 71-68. SharDarrion Allen, Kenneth Rogers and Casey Smith Jr. would all combine for 49 of their team’s points, with each player earning at least 14. Allen, who scored 18, would also snatch 12 rebounds, earning himself yet another double-double. Rogers would not only have 17 points, but would be perfect from the free-throw line, going 5 for 5. Smith Jr. would lead the team in assists with 7. They now stand at 15-5 overall with a 7-5 conference record. 

The women, who are now ranked #9 in the country, would breeze by Southwest, winning 69-55. The most noticeable stat line of the night would be Deja Woodard not only scoring 12 points, but earning a staggering amount of rebounds at 21. Keyara Jones would also have an amazing night, earning 22 points on 43% shooting. The team now moves up to 18-2, and they remain unbeaten in the conference with a 12-0 record.
