Carson Stanford has built a reputation as a skilled artist over his tenure at Jones. This fall, Stanford is adding to his arsenal with the release of his new EP.
“Mississippi doesn’t get the best rap,” said Stanford. “This EP is made right here in Ellisville, so I hope it shows what we can do.”
An EP is a musical recording that contains 4-6 tracks, which is fewer than a standard album. An EP is usually less than 30 minutes long, and albums are more than 30 minutes.
Stanford has blended his emotions of trials he has faced in life with the pride of his home. The first two tracks on the EP are called, “My Mississippi” and “Mississippi Queen.” The third song on the EP is called “You Don’t Love Me.”
“It’s kind of the best of both worlds,” said Stanford. “You’ve got where you’re from, and raw emotions.”
The EP was recorded in the studio of Free State Records. This successful and lucrative studio is located right on the Jones College campus.
The head man at Free State Records is Stanford’s professor and producer of his EP, Matt McGuffie, who thinks that this new release will show how far Stanford has come.
“He is a great young man,” McGuffie said. “Getting to know him personally by working in the studio with him, I believe he has got a very bright future ahead of him.”
The EP will be released some time in October. Fans can listen to the EP when it is released on all streaming services, including Spotify, iTunes and Amazon music.
