Christmas is right around the corner, and this time of year many like to sit around drinking hot chocolate as they watch their favorite holiday films. While there are a plethora of movies to get one in the Christmas feeling, there are a few that stand out when it comes to spreading Christmas cheer.
Jones sophomore, Colby Charlton, said his favorite movie to watch in December is the live-action “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” starring Jim Carrey. “It isn’t Christmas without the Grinch,” Charlton said. While Benedict Cumberbatch is enjoying his time in the light as the infamous Grinch, Carrey immortalized the character. Carrey’s version of the character brings sarcastic humor to the screen and is a great way to get a good laugh this holiday season.
Another iconic Christmas film is “Elf” starring Will Ferrell. The film follows an adult elf that goes to find his birth father in the great city of New York. Ferrell’s character, Buddy the Elf, embarks on a journey from the frozen North Pole to urban NYC. It takes Buddy a bit to adjust to this new society but as he does, he discovers the love of his family and friends. “Elf” is a charming tale to follow and wraps together all the good things that come with Christmas.
While these are just two of the great Christmas films out there, there are plenty more to watch this Holiday, and one wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity to snuggle up with a loved one and spread some Christmas cheer with a good ‘ole fashion film.
