Recipe Column: Bargains for students

Hey Readers! It’s Rylee here and we’re coming through with another set of recipes, this time with a twist! Instead of doing traditional recipes, I will share the list of food places where college students receive a discount. These discounts are typically available upon request. So let’s get into it.

  • Up first is HelloFresh, a meal delivery service that offers 15% off every order for college students. This service will allow students to get healthy home style meals delivered right to their front door.
  • Next is Illy, an online coffee shop that offers 20% off their entire website for college students. This is great for those late night studying sessions. Just order a bag of coffee and a cute mug and enjoy!
  • McDonald’s is a little-known store that often offers free ice cream or cheeseburgers to college students. Be sure to have the app and be registered as a student to receive notifications about these offers.
  • Sam’s Club offers a discounted collegiate membership and a $25 gift card bonus to all college students. This makes grocery shopping more affordable for buying your favorite snacks in bulk for your dorm.
  • Blue Apron, similar to Hello Fresh, will give college students 50% for the first four weeks of meals that are delivered. This savings is valued at over $150 and is great for those nights you can’t make it to the school dining halls.
  • DoorDash offers a discounted membership for free deliveries for college students. This is $4.99/month instead of the traditional $9.99 and allows for local restaurants and grocery stores to deliver food at no cost.
  • Discounts vary at Chick-Fil-A, Arby’s, Chipotle, Subway, Dunkin’ and Taco Bell but are available upon request. Most will ask for a student ID to receive 10% off, a free drink or a dessert.
  • Most pizza places like Pizza Hut, Papa Johns and Dominos also offer discounts of a percentage off orders or a cheaper price per pizza.

Other websites have discount codes and promotions for free coffees, discounted pizzas and other deals. Visit Studentbeans.com and capitalone.com to see other available discounts. These deals are not limited to just food either. They are available for insurance, phone services, grocery stores, and even subscription services like Spotify and Hulu.
