The No. 11 Lady Bobcats gain huge win over Copiah-Lincoln

The No. 11 ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats defeated Copiah-Lincoln at the Bobcat Soccer Field in a one-sided game 9-0 Sept. 13. In all five games played so far, they have left the opposing teams scoreless.

With this win, the Lady Bobcats improve their overall record to an impressive 5-0, while being 4-0 in the MACJC South Division. Forward Kelly Stubbington started the game off with a score early in the seventh minute. Forward Mary Kate Smith scored in the eighth minute off an assist from teammate Angel Ryals. Midfielder Shannon Durkin received an assist from Smith 21 minutes in, and Durkin returned the favor by assisting on Smith’s goal 31 minutes in.

With that goal, the Lady Bobcats were then leading 4-0 at halftime. The Lady Bobcats picked up where they left off with a goal from Marcie Napier 53 minutes in on an assist from Smith. Ashleigh Lewis scored 74 minutes in with an assist from Rylee Sullivan.

As the rain started to come down, the Lady Bobcats scored two more times in four minutes. Durkin found herself with another goal 88 minutes in, and Stubbington ended the game with the final goal.

Copiah-Lincoln has yet to win a game as their overall record is now 0-6 and 0-4 in the division. The Lady Bobcats take the home field again Sept. 30 against East Central at 5 p.m.
