Southern Miss and UAB rekindle hated rivalry

Southern Miss took on the University of Alabama Birmingham Blazers on Oct. 28 after two years of not playing. The UAB football program was disbanded in 2015 after the university ruled they should focus more on academics.
Before the disbanding of the UAB football team, Southern Miss and UAB had a rich history of close games and equal animosity towards each other on the football field. The Golden Eagles and the Blazers clashed on the gridiron Oct. 28 on Black Out night on the campus of USM. The Golden Eagles would fall to the Blazers to a score of 30-12. Sophomore quarterback for the Eagles Keon Howard racked up over 200 yards passing with one touchdown in the loss to the Blazers.
The Golden Eagles’ next home game will be against the University of Charlotte on Nov. 18. This game will be the last home game for the Golden Eagles, so be sure to go out and support the Golden Eagles.
