Parron joins men’s soccer

The men’s soccer team welcomed Jordan Parron as assistant coach earlier this season, and with new staffing comes a new set of skills that Parron is excited to display. With the team focused on winning a 4th consecutive championship, Parron hopes to bring his knowledge of the game and present himself as a role model to his players.

“The biggest thing for me is creating a relationship with the players,” Parron said about his coaching style. “If they feel like you are there for them, they are going to give you all they can on the field.”

Players Elean Fajardo and Lee Hill shared how Parron helps with the team.

“I really enjoy having him as a coach. He helps out in every way he can; whether it be with coach (Brendan Connolly) or with all the guys, he really is a great addition to this program,” said Hill.

Elean Fajardo said, “For us, he’s more than an assistant coach. He’s someone we can talk to about life. He’s a good soccer player and coach, but also a great person.”

Parron said he loves the game, but it isn’t just the love for the game as much as it is perfecting his craft for the players. “For me, it’s not just to get better for myself, but to gain all the knowledge I can to help the players, to help my team. I think that’s what pushes me.”

Even though he was born in California, Parron was raised in Brandon, MS, where he played all four years of high school before eventually going to Mississippi Gulf Coast and from there, went to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and Memphis. After graduation, Parron joined Belhaven as a Graduate Assistant before finding himself at Jones, where he hopes to show his greatest assets.

“We are really excited to have added Jordan to our staff,” said head coach Brendan Connolly.  “We love his positivity and enthusiasm; he has a great work ethic and a great knowledge of the game. All these things make him a great coach that will help each of our players to thrive academically, socially, and athletically.”
