Mississippi State hires new head football coach

After nine years under former Head Football Coach Dan Mullen, Mississippi State hires former Penn State Offensive Coordinator Joe Moorhead. The coaching change came after Mullen accepted the head coaching job at the University of Florida. Before taking the head job at MSU, Mullen spent two years as the Florida Gators offensive coordinator under then head coach Urban Myer. During his time at Florida, Mullen won two National Championships and coached Heisman winner Tim Tebow. After leaving Florida, Mullen racked up 69 wins as the Mississippi State head coach.

With Mullen taking the Florida job, Mississippi State has now hired Moorhead, who only has one previous head coaching job, at Fordham University. As an offensive-minded coach, Moorhead will try to keep the tradition of dominating offensively, something the Bulldogs have come to know and expect. While at Penn State, Moorhead created one of the nation’s most potent offensive attacks and he now looks to do the same for the Bulldogs.
