Men’s tennis host Hinds

On Oct. 22, Jones’ tennis team will host a match with the Hinds Community College Eagles. Last month, Jones finished with a 1-1 record, earning a win against Copiah-Lincoln Community College by a whopping margin of 8-1, yet failing to do the same against Meridian Community College, losing only 4-5. Despite not playing earlier in the fall, Hinds will be competing at their third meeting in four days after playing Mississippi Gulf Coast on the 19th and 20th.

While their record might misrepresent the team, Jones appears to be as dominant as ever on the tennis court. JC freshman Noel Monsalve serves as a prime example. The Venezuelan powerhouse has only lost one match, which came during doubles action in Meridian. JC freshman Daniel Tanious has also shown the same tendencies in both singles and doubles action. The local of Laurel, Miss. has yet to drop a single match to an opponent, remaining undefeated over the course of five sets. Other JC freshmen such as Connor Henderson from Petal and Erich Fischer of Wesson are coming off of big performances against Copiah-Lincoln and look to carry their momentum over into this month.

While it may just be fall ball, no one likes to lose. Jones has just three more meetings before the real season begins, and they hope to enter February confidently by doing what everyone loves best: winning.
