Men and Women’s basketball head to Alabama

On Nov. 27, both the men and women’s basketball teams will head to Monroeville, Ala. to take on the Coastal Alabama Community College Eagles after returning from Thanksgiving Break.

Before the break, the men seemed to be firing on all cylinders, defeating prep schools such as Louisiana Academy, South Louisiana, and Louisiana Christian by satisfying margins. However, they would also drop a close game to #13 Holmes Community College, losing 56-64. While the Bobcats managed to hang with the nationally ranked Bulldogs, they would ultimately fall behind midway through the fourth period. Freshman guards Shardarrion Allen and Kenneth Rogers would lead the team in scoring, combining for a total of 27 points. They would face the William Carey University junior varsity team before going on break.

As for the nationally-ranked women, they also look just as good early on, with their 74-52 win against Holmes in the season opener serving as a primary example. Sophomore guard Breonca Ducksworth would earn her keep on both sides of the ball in that game, putting up 16 points on offense as well as five steals on defense. They also would face even more grueling competition, coming in the form of nationally ranked Shelton State Community College and Bossier Parish Community College.

For both teams, this will be their first contest in over a week, and they will both be looking to pick up steam as they continue on with the rest of their seasons.
