The Jones Women’s Basketball team has put up an impressive regular season, stomping almost every team in their wake. They continued that trend into the MACJC Women’s Basketball tournament when the Lady Bobcats would come away with their second straight state title.
The Lady Bobcats were led to victory with performances by sophomores Alexis Tolefree and Nique Cherry. Tolefree led the Bobcats with a high 21 points and Cherry scored 19 in the state final against Copiah – Lincoln Community College on March 1. The Lady Bobcats would beat the Lady Wolf Pack to a score of 78-53 to capture the state title.
The Lady Bobcats won the Region 23 tournament against Co-Lin 98-74, with Tolefree scoring 50 points. Winning the Region 23 title put the Lady Bobcats in the running for the NJCAA Division 1 National Championship. Jones plays in the national tournament in Lubbock, Texas on March 21 at 1 p.m. All tournaments will air on www.njcaatv.com.
