With the month of March setting in, baseball season is starting to pick up steam, and the Bobcat team has proven they deserve to be at the top of the national ranks thus far. They remain 11-1 at this point in the season, with their only loss coming during the first game of a doubleheader on March 6 at Baton Rouge Community College (La.). The Bobcats would ultimately regain their composure and come back to win the next game of the doubleheader with a score of 6-3.
The Bobcats are currently ranked #4 in the nation in the NJCAA’s most recent poll despite being unranked the week before. They earned three of nine first-place votes, being ranked behind Parkland College (Ill.), Sinclair Community College (Ohio), and LSU-Eunice (La.). It should also be noted that the Bobcats managed to defeat #1 LSU-Eunice at home by a comfortable score of 11-4. It will be of no surprise if Jones manages to climb the rankings yet again in the next poll.
As far as statistics go, Jones has managed to impress once again. The Bobcats have the ninth most home runs of any team in D-II baseball. They also have no problem protecting their own house, as they remain 8-0 thus far at home despite some stout competition. Jones should be expected to consistently improve these numbers as division competition grows nearer.
