JCJC Lady Bobcats’ winning streak ends

Jones County Junior College’s softball team started their season on the right foot. In the beginning, they won every game by at least three points. These hard-fought games allowed the Lady Bobcats to reach a winning-streak of 29 games before losing on March 28 to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

The Lady Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when sophomore Cori McCrary led with an infield single and sophomore Kelly Byrd walked. McCrary would later score on her next pitch while sophomore Autumn Frost’s out allowed Byrd to score. The Bobcats eventually scored two more times giving them a score of four. MGCCC was able to tie up the game and followed with a triple play, giving them seven points. JCJC was unable to tie the game. Their streak was brought to an unfortunate end by MGCCC with a score of 6-7.  Though MGCCC seemed no match for JCJC their first game, they muscled up enough strength to win by one point in the end.
