JCJC Basketball takes on rival Pearl River

On Feb. 6, Jones traveled to Poplarville to take on the Pearl River Community College Wildcats.

The men, who were facing a PRCC team that is ranked #2 in the nation, would lose 66-74. With the loss, their record now falls to 13-5, with a 5-5 record inside their division. Freshman guard Tredavis Thompson would finish with 19 points on the night, with sophomores SharDarrion Allen leading in rebounds at 11 and Casey Smith Jr. leading in assists at 8. Jones experienced plenty of trouble shooting the ball in the first period, shooting 34%. Although they would improve by shooting 46% in the second half, it would not be enough to save them.

The women, ranked #10 in the nation, would have their way with PRCC in a 70-60 win. LaMiracle Sims posted yet another double-double after scoring 18 points and snagging 10 rebounds. Daja Woodard would do the same, earning 16 points and 15 rebounds. Also worth noting are Chyna Allen, who managed 10 points and 7 rebounds, and Keyara Jones, who scored 14 points.

For their next game, both teams will host East Central Community College in Ellisville, Miss. Viewers can watch at jcjc.tv.
