Jones County Junior College’s baseball team is on an impressive 10-game winning streak. In the last game for the Bobcats, Jones swept Southwest Community College in a doubleheader on the campus of JCJC.
In the first game of the series, the Bobcats beat Southwest to the score of 13-1 in five innings. The Bobcats won the game with great performances by freshman infielders Jake Mason and Cooper Brune. Mason would bring in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the first inning that tied the game up 1-1. Brune would follow up the first run with a grand slam to pull away from Southwest in the bottom of the first inning. The Bobcats would not look back from there with a stellar pitching performance by sophomore Will Freeman. Freeman would only give up four hits throughout the entire game with one strikeout and only one base on balls.
The second game of the series would see the Bobcats win with the score of 5-1. The Bobcats were led by the pitching of sophomore Tyler Spring. Spring would pitch five innings, striking out seven and only allowing one run on three hits with three bases on balls.
