On Jan. 28, both the men and women’s basketball teams will head to Copiah-Lincoln Community College to take on the Wolves in Wesson, Miss.
The men, who have had more positive experiences than not this season, have done extremely well whenever it comes to defending their home court, not dropping a game at home before Thursday. However, winning on the road has been a bit of a challenge for them as they have been unable to stay above a .500 winning percentage, including a neutral zone game in Tallahassee, Florida. With that being said, one of their most hard-fought wins came on the road against Coastal Alabama Community College, as they would win by a small margin of four points. While they would obviously like to remain dominant at home, being able to establish themselves at away games is surely at the top of their to-do list.
As for the women, they remain nationally ranked as they continue to beat several teams in satisfying fashion. Just ask Southern University of Shreveport Louisiana, who fell to Jones by as much as 55 points. However, they have had their fair share of nail-biters. This includes an instant classic against Chipola College (Florida), in which the Bobcats just managed to edge out the Indians by a score of 72-71. With most of the challenging, out-of-state opponents out of the way, one has to think that the Lady Bobcats will be able to handle their divisional schedule with ease.
From here on out, the majority of both teams’ schedules are remaining divisional games, providing both teams the perfect opportunity to stake their claims for state titles.
