Super Bowl 52 was a very close and surprising game this year. The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots went head to head and had a knock-down, drag-out fight over the Vince Lombardi trophy. The game started out with both teams not giving anything to the other. The Eagles made the first points of the game by kicking a field goal. The Patriots followed this field goal with another one. Number 14, Marcus Johnson, from the Eagles made a touchdown in the first quarter bringing the score to nine-three. The rest of the game followed this trend in the same back and forth, hard fought, style with the Eagles mostly keeping a lead on the Patriots.
The Eagles were up against a lot of opposition in this game as well. They were not favored to win, having never won a super bowl game while the Patriots have won nine super bowls. The Eagle’s starting quarterback was injured earlier in the season, leaving backup quarterback Nick Foles to lead them in the super bowl game. Foles made possibly one of the biggest plays of the game for the Eagles. The Eagles ran a trick play in the second quarter that put him wide open in the end-zone for a touchdown. The scores at the end of each quarter were 9-3 first quarter, 15-3 second quarter, 29-26 third quarter and 41-33 final score. Despite all of the odds being stacked against them, the Eagles came together and won like champions.
