Jones College’s football season did not end as planned as the Bobcats dropped the final game of the season at home against the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs 0-23.
The Bulldogs started the game hot, scoring a touchdown less than two minutes into the game. The game, however, remained tight throughout the first half with Jones only trailing 10-0 at halftime.
By the end of the third quarter, the Bobcats trailed 13-0. With Gulf Coast putting up a ten spot in the fourth quarter, the game came to an end with Jones coming out on the short end with a score of 0-23.
DJ Smith started at quarterback and threw for 127 yards. The Bobcats only amassed 16 net rushing yards. On the other side, the Bulldogs rushed for 243 yards and threw for an additional 127 yards.
While the season did not end in fantastic fashion, the Bobcats still had a successful year. Jones finished with a 6-3 record and a 5-1 conference record. At one point in the season, Jones was ranked as high as number 4 in the nation.
While the Bobcats did not make the playoffs, they will look to bounce back next fall.
