Jones County Junior College’s cheerleaders, football and soccer teams received awards for their athleticism and commitment to complete a successful season.
The banquet began with a dinner for the athletes, coaches and attending family members. Justin Graves, the head of Jones County Fellowship of Christian Athletes, led the banquet with a prayer and blessed the food. Afterwards, JCJC Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Samuel Jones spoke to the athletes about how to make the most of life after college and said some encouraging words to the athletes about preparing to move forward in their experiences after Jones.
Coach Steve Buckley then credited his football team on a season well played and announced their additional academic achievements. All the sophomores from the team will graduate in the spring, which is something no other college in the state can claim.
Coach Brendan Connolly, the head soccer coach, shared some reflection on the season and the pride he felt for his team. There were many awards and encouraging words given to JCJC’s players, and the banquet provided an acknowledgement of their personal success that the players can look back on for the rest of their lives.
