Twitter doubles character count

In 2017, social media is all the rage. Twitter is one of the largest platforms with over 330 million monthly users, according to Statistica.com. This site recently chose to implement a change to its iconic 140 character posts. The new change doubles the characters to 280.

Many believe this change to be unneeded. Twitter is iconic for its brief posts, and with the character counts expanding, many are frustrated. However, some are embracing the change.

JCJC freshman Rhiannon Gordon said, “It’s not a bad thing. People won’t have to use as many posts to make a point.”

Overall, the change won’t make much of a difference in the Twitter timeline. The posts will just be slightly larger. It’s time to embrace changes in social media starting with Twitter.
