Time announces person of the year for 2017

On Dec. 6, Time Magazine named its person of the year. This year, however, multiple people were named. Those that got the spot were a part of the #metoo movement that encouraged women to come forward with their assault stories amid the Harvey Weinstein scandal. These women included Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan and many more.

The shortlist for other nominees included Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Robert Mueller, Kim Jong Un, Colin Kaepernick and Patty Jenkins. The nominees are picked according to how prevalent they were in the news cycle during the year. It is impressive when a movement can change the way Hollywood views certain actors, directors and photographers. Hopefully, the people accused will see consequences for their actions in the future.
