This is what happens when the government shuts down

Like many households, schools and businesses, the U.S. Government runs on a budget. This budget concerns things like programs for the military, education and others. Lawmakers all over the country push for their programs, and because of this giving and taking not everyone agrees on the money. When no agreement is reached, there is a chance of a government shutdown. There have been chances of a government shutdown since December 2017. According to NBC News, “a government shutdown definitely feels more possible than it felt back in December.”

Many students and adults alike do not understand what happens when the Government shuts down. JCJC freshman Haley Myers said, “I don’t exactly know what happens when a government shutdown occurs.” Many things can happen. The video below explains what exactly happens during a shutdown.
