Students learn about mental health

On Jan. 22 dorm students were encouraged to attend a program held in the Home and Health Auditorium regarding managing depression and anxiety. Child and adolescent counselor Brett Curter informed students that depression is the number one mental health issue in the United States. Anxiety is also a large issue which typically goes hand in hand with depression. Curter gave the example of looking through a scope and how what you see through the scope is the negative because that is all that is visible. However, taking a step back the trees and surrounding area is also visible which makes the bigger picture visible. Curter encouraged students by reminding them that they are enough, they are valued and they are loved.
