Spring semester classes interrupted by snow

Snow in Mississippi is typically considered abnormal, however, recently such weather has become more common. In the span of a month, JCJC has shut down campus for snowy and icy conditions twice. After returning from a three-day weekend, students attended their Tuesday classes before being sent home due to inclement weather. Campus closed at 1 p.m. on Jan. 15 not to be reopened until noon Jan 18. The cafeteria remained open during the snow days due to many on-campus residents remaining on campus. Athletic teams took advantage of the time off from classes by scheduling indoor practices. Basketball resumed play on Jan. 18. It is possible that there will be more snow days in the future, however, for now the goal is to get back on track with spring classes.
