Most Beautiful pageant set for April 12

Jones College is gearing up to produce this year’s Most Beautiful Pageant. Dr. Tessa Flowers, vice president of student affairs and director of the Jones Most Beautiful pageant, has spent hours organizing to make this year’s pageant one for the books.

Female students at Jones College are encouraged to participate in this year’s competition.

“It’s a fun way to get involved on campus and meet new people,” said Dr. Flowers. “It’s a good way to meet people, to dress up, to feel good about yourself, and to just have some fun.”

Sign up forms are available through the weekly student newsletter. For an entry fee of $40, girls can join the fun and have the chance to win titles such as Most Photogenic, Best Essay, or Jones Most Beautiful.

Students and the public are welcome to watch the contestants April 12, at 7 p.m. in the M.P. Bush Fine Arts Building. Jones students get in free with their student ID, but there will be an admission for the public.

Jones On Stage will provide entertainment for the night. Other entertainment includes a presentation that led Dr. Flowers to spending hours combing through yearbooks to honor the women of the college’s past. Pageant guests will see a slideshow of Jones Most Beautiful winners throughout the years, as far back as the 1950s.

Audience members will also get to participate in the Audience Choice award. Votes will be $1 and will be taken during the event. All proceeds from the pageant will go to the Jones’ yearbook.
