LLT holds May auditions for summer performance of Something Rotten

Laurel Little Theatre will open its 62nd season in July with the very new Broadway musical “SOMETHING ROTTEN.”  Auditions are set for Monday and Tuesday, May 23 and 24, at 7 p.m.  Rehearsals will not start until the second week of June, and the show opens late July.

Show director is Frankie Bennett with choreographer Coco Caldwell. Music director is Dr. Susan Smith, who is part of the Jones College music department. They’ll need a huge cast of 40+ adults of all ages from teens to seniors.  There will also be a pit chorus of a dozen singers who sing off-stage, don’t appear on the stage, and will have limited rehearsals of twice a week.

It’s a hilarious show set in Shakespearean times about two brothers trying to compete with Mr. Shakespeare by creating the world’s very first ‘’musical.”

LLT keeps auditions easy to encourage first timers to “come be in a show.”  Those who try for a part can sing anything, from the national anthem, a hymn, “Happy Birthday” to any song of choice – or, just sing with a whole group.

Check the audition page on LaurelLittleTheatre.com or drop a line to LLTLaurelMS@aol.com with any questions.
