JCJC to present “Smokey Joe’s Cafe”

This month, the theatre department will perform its spring musical, “Smokey Joe’s Cafe: The Songs of Leiber and Stoller.”

In a 1950’s setting, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller’s songs provide the entertainment of a once popular American culture. Featuring nearly 40 songs, some classics consist of “Charlie Brown,” “Hound Dog” and “Stand by Me.” The musical also features romantic ballads as well as catchy melodies.

Performances will be in the M.P. Bush Fine Arts Building March 24, 25 and 26. Friday and Saturday performances will be 7 p.m., and Sunday’s performance will be 2:30 p.m. Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for people ages 18 and under. JCJC students, staff and faculty have free admission with ID.
