The Jones County Junior College Fine Arts Department invites the public to join them again this year, as they continue their tradition of “A Jingle Jazz Christmas.” On Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m., the JCJC Jazz Cats along with the JC Voices will present their concert in the Bobby Shows Exhibit Hall in the Ronald E.Whitehead Advanced Technology Park in Ellisville.
The Fine Arts Department asks that everyone bring one new unwrapped toy for admission into the concert. This collection of toys will be given to the Salvation Army’s “Angel Tree Project.” All donations will be given to children in the Jones County area this Christmas.
In exchange for the donation, JC Voices, under the direction of Dr. Susan Smith, will sing holiday favorites including “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manger” and “What Child is This.” The evening will also include modern classics such as “Breath of Heaven,” as well as the traditional songs of “Sleigh Ride” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” JC Jazz Cats, under the direction of Lucas Brust, will perform “Getting in the Mood for Christmas,” “The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t be Late),” by Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. and “Christmas Time is Here” by Vince Guaraldi.
“This event has been so successful the past couple of years! Our students enjoy the fun and challenging repertoire of this concert and genuinely feel the support of the community when the room is full of people who come to see them perform and to give something back to our local community,” said Jennifer Hart, JCJC Fine Arts instructor.
A Jingle Jazz Christmas is sure to be a festive evening filled with jazz renditions of classic and modern Christmas favorites.
