“Hairspray” to be performed on JC campus

The popular book-turned-movie-turned-musical “Hairspray” is coming to Jones County Junior College.  The story focuses on teenager Tracy Turnblad and her dancing escapades on a popular television program in 1960’s Baltimore.

Produced and directed by Jones instructor Jennifer Bruton and assisted by Bruce Smith, “Hairspray” will feature a cast of over 35 students.  This year, opening night will be Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. and the other performances will be held Saturday, March 2 at 2:30 p.m. and then again at 7 p.m.  The final performance will be Sunday, March 3 at 2:30 p.m.

Those who would like to see the performance can head to the M.P. Bush Fine Arts Auditorium on any of the listed performance dates.  Tickets are $5 for children 17 and under and $10 for adults.   Of course, Jones students and faculty get in for free with the presentation of a valid school ID.
