Fill the Gap is a movement that promotes the support of funding for the community and junior colleges in the state of Mississippi. The community and junior colleges of MS have had multiple budget cuts in the past few years by the state government which has caused schools to cut back on spending and staff. These two-year institutions are a huge asset to Mississippi’s economic stability by providing skilled workers to fill the currently empty 40,000 jobs in Mississippi.
On Feb. 28 the Radionian editorial staff from Jones County Junior College took a trip to the state capitol to meet with Rep. Donnie Scoggin. While they were there the students were able to tour the Capitol and learn more about the issue.
