On Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 10:15 a.m., the Jones College annual Black History program will take place in the Home & Health auditorium on campus.
Through an email sent to the Jones College faculty and student body, Dr. Samuel Jones, the Assistant to the President of Leadership Training, announced that the theme for this year’s program is “Transforming for a Purpose.” The Black History program’s guest speaker will be Dr. Angel Brutus, who acts as Director of Counseling and Sport Psychology, as well as being a member of Mississippi State University’s Sports Medicine and Performance team.
According to Dr. Jones’ email, she provides clinical and performance enhancement services to address MSU’s sports culture. Her training includes Licensed Professional Counseling, Certified Rehabilitation Counseling and Sport-Performance Psychology, and she holds positions in numerous organizations.
“I believe Dr. Brutus has the experience and expertise to help our campus community ‘Transform for a Purpose’ as we all strive to become the best version of ourselves,” said Jones. “I believe Black History is all about learning from the past, envisioning a better future and implementing those triggering insights in the present as we live our lives as students and employees at Jones College. In order to make the world a better place, it’s important to start with ourselves.”
This program is free to the public and all are welcomed and encouraged to attend the event.
