The rare super wolf blood moon appears

On Jan. 20, a Super Wolf Blood Moon made its appearance in the night sky.  A super moon is when there is a full moon at the same time when the moon is at its closest to the earth.  A wolf moon is the first full moon in a new year.  A blood moon is a lunar eclipse causing the moon to change to a red tint.  Furthermore, a super wolf blood moon is rare. North and South America had the best view of the moon, and that included, of course, Jones College.

The full process of the blood moon lasted for about two hours.  The moon appeared at about 8:36 p.m., then the lunar eclipse started around 9:34 p.m.  The moon reached totality around 10:41 p.m. then reversed back to “normal” about 11:12 p.m.  The next total lunar eclipse will appear May 26, 2021.
