Student body chooses Mr and Miss JC

Each year, two students are selected to represent Jones College as Mr and Miss JC. This year, the student body selected sophomores Taylor Garrettson and Jaythan Comegys to fill these roles.

Jones College is known for its motto, “Inspiring Greatness.” Garrettson and Comegys are doing their part by being heavily involved around campus.

Garrettson is a member of the JC Broadcasting Team, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Bobcat Brigade,  Lair yearbook staff and captain of the Touch of Gold dance team. Garrettson said  that being involved on campus allows her to connect with like-minded individuals while doing the things that she loves.

“Being able to be involved in all of these things, while connecting with so many different people is a very humbling experience,” said Garrettson. “Being selected as Miss JC by my peers is one of the biggest honors I have ever been given.”

Comegys is a member of the JC Broadcasting Team, Future Business Leaders of America and he serves as a Bobcat Brigade officer. Comegys says that Jones College allowed him to discover himself and his passions.

“Jones College really means discovery in my experience,” says Comegys. “I’ve discovered a lot about myself. I’ve been able to explore the world and the people around me. Jones is a good place to start growing after you finish high school.”

Garrettson and Comegys both have big goals while holding these titles. They hope to represent the college with dignity and honor while inspiring others to be the best version of themselves.

Garrettson said, “I hope to make everyone feel like they can accomplish anything. No matter who you are, you can go after any dream you have and achieve it.”

Comegys’ goal is to inspire others through his service. He says when people see Mr. JC, he wants them to see a man of high regard.

“I hope to be a good role model for the college,” said Comegys. “I want people to see a good representation of Jones College when they see me.”

Upon graduating from Jones College, both Garrettson and Comegys plan to further their educations at a senior college.

“I am not 100% sure where I want to go just yet,” said Comegys. “I plan to continue in computer science and figure out which career path I would like to pursue with that.”

Garrettson plans to finish her degree in broadcast journalism. She is also undecided where she will complete her studies.

“I loves Jone College,” said Garrettson. “I never want to leave.”
