Anna Kate Wood is a freshman majoring in secondary English education at Jones College. Wood is most known as the 2021 State Line Miss Hospitality of Greene County.
“I chose Jones because I had already completed many dual-enrollment courses thanks to the amazing Greene County Jones Center,” Wood said.
Wood in involved in Bobcat Brigade, Student Government Association, and the Jones College Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society.
“I love the family atmosphere and the amazing instructors at Jones College. I also enjoy being part of Bobcat Brigade and giving tours to potential students,” she said.
Wood already completed 30 hours while in high school, so she will be completing her time at Jones early.
“I will graduate from Jones in May of 2022. After Jones, I plan to attend the University of Southern Mississippi. After graduating from USM, I would love to teach high school English at Greene County High School.”
There is a teacher shortage in Mississippi, and Wood said she is encouraged to inspire young people of the next generation.
