Sophomore Jodie Pierce chose Jones College after being out of school for nearly 10 years. Pierce is a 28-year-old full-time student and mom of two.
“It is very difficult. It’s like running on a hamster wheel,” said Pierce. “I stay up late and wake up super early, but it’s worth it.”
Pierce is an art major at JC. A few of her favorite works have been on display in the Eula Bass Lewis Gallery on campus as part of the Sophomore Show running from April 5 to April 23.
“I decided to be an art major/educator because I want to share my knowledge and passion for art with a younger generation,” said Pierce. “Art is an outlet for me and most people who are artists, so I find it comforting to help others learn and find their way through their art.”
Pierce plans to attend USM in the fall of 2019 to start the journey of earning her bachelor’s degree in studio art/art education with a Spanish minor. This mom is most definitely not too cool for school.
