The Jones County Junior College Concert Choir held their Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Laurel. The evening was filled with traditional carols sung by the choir, music played by an orchestra and songs sung by soloists.
JCJC Concert Choir, under the direction of Joel Dunlap, sung holiday favorites including “The First Noel,” “O Holy Night” and “What Child is This.” This musical event was accompanied by Victoria Johnson. The Laurel Ballet Academy Performance Company also contributed by dancing to many of the songs performed by the choir.
Nathan Jones of First Trinity Presbyterian Church played a solo “Fugue in D Major, BWV 532” on the organ. J.D. Bilbo, a soloist from the Concert Choir, sang “Es ist ein Ros entsprungen,” a German Christmas Hymn.
“I feel that all JCJC students should’ve come to enjoy the concert and got into the Christmas spirit and continued to acknowledge the birth of Christ. The reason for every season,” said Tianna Pearson, JCJC Concert Choir member.
The music inspired that special feeling of Christmas which evokes the true meaning of the holiday for Christians, the praise and celebration of Jesus Christ.
