Jones College’s Baptist Student Union is collecting money in local restaurants through tip jars for 12 students from BSU to go on a mission trip. The students will have to raise on average of $5000 this semester for the BSU to be able to do mission work in Eastern Europe, Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia. The tip jars can be found in restaurants in Ellisville and Laurel such as Bosun Joes, Deli Diner, Casadores, French Quarter, Karocks, Hog Heaven, Burrito Express, Estelle’s, Charlie’s Catfish, Mi Casita, Pause Espresso Bar and The Knight Butcher.
Along with the tip jars, the BSU is holding fundraisers throughout the semester. On March 1-2, they will have a massive rummage sale. The students will most likely receive some donations from each student’s home church. Also, they are planning to do a fundraiser at Cane’s March 7 in which they will be able to collect a portion of the profit.
“We invite everyone to eat at Cane’s that day!” said Frank Porter.
