As of 2024, 86% of Americans subscribe to at least one streaming service. Netflix, which has nearly half of America browsing its platform, added another 60 new and old flicks just in the month of March.
“One of Them Days” stars SZA and Keke Palmer. In this comedic adventure, two roommates lose their rent money and have eight hours to figure out a new plan before they get evicted. Unfortunately they keep running into more obstacles as their time runs out. This 2025 film is rated R.
Netflix has gained another classic: “50 First Dates.” Drew Barrymore plays an art
teacher named Lucy Whitmore who has short term memory loss, but catches the eye of Henry Roth, played by Adam Sandler. This rom-com shows Roth’s many attempts of trying to win her over. It is rated PG-13 and makes a great laugh for the family.
“Pride & Prejudice” was added to Netflix March 1. This film, considered a classic to many due to the 1813 novel on which it is based, tells the love story of eldest daughter Elizabeth Bennet. The historical romantic drama is rated PG.
“Plankton: The Movie” is based off the series, “Spongebob Squarepants.” In this film, Plankton tells the love story between him and his computer wife- Karen. After upsetting her to the point where she wants nothing more to do with him, she starts on her journey to destroy the world. Plankton fights to win her back before she succeeds. This movie is rated PG and is a great family watch.
“Annie,” a family movie night favorite, tells the classic story of young orphan Annie being adopted and winning over her new father’s heart. Both original and new music are included in the soundtrack. It is a great film for all ages.
“Trap” is one of those films that keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats the whole time. “Trap” follows a dad as he takes his daughter to see her favorite singer in concert, except he isn’t like any other dad. No, this dad is the “Butcher,” a serial killer being hunted by the FBI. The FBI does not know who exactly is the killer, but they know he is at the concert. They are checking every white male who fits the killer’s description as they leave the stadium. Rated PG-13, this film is better suited for parents and older children.
“The Electric State” stars Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt in a futuristic, dystopian world. Brown plays an orphan who discovers her brother might still be alive and is using a robot to connect with her. This is all happening in a time when humans and robots have fought wars and set treaties promising segregation between the two. Rated PG-13 due to language and violence, “The Electric State” is a great watch for anyone.
“Bert Kreischer: Lucky” is a stand up comedy. Kreischer is most famously known for taking his shirt off and for his skit, “The Machine.” In this stand up, Kreischner has lost 45 pounds and makes sure to talk about it. He also tells the story of when he got parenting advice from Snoop Dogg. Kreischner is feeling very lucky with his life right now and tells it so in this comedy. This film, definitely styled for older audiences, is rated TV-MA.
