LLT presents ‘Steel Magnolias’

Seated is Christy Liverett and standing are Katelyn Bryant, Jennifer Graveman, Frankie Bennett, Missy Sanderson and Alex Arnold in a scene from the play.

Laurel Little Theatre’s fall show is the classic Southern comedy “STEEL MAGNOLIAS” with performances September 24-25 and October 1-2 at 730 p.m. and Sunday matinees on September 26 and October 3 at 2 p.m.

The LLT reservation line is now open and answers 24hrs a day at 601.428.0140.

Before the hit movie version came out, the original NYC stage play ran for three years in the late 1980s with over 1000 performances.

Everyone remembers the classic characters and the hilarious repartee, biting one-liners that you still hear friends repeat over and over, and the strength and love of a mother-daughter relationship.

These ladies are “as delicate as magnolia flowers, but as tough as steel.”  The show is absolutely full of good ole belly laughs and moments that brings tears to the eyes.

The show is under the direction of LLT alumni Lacy Cockrell and features an all-star cast of LLT veteran actresses.  Every one of the six ladies of the cast have been in LLT productions over the last two decades.

Cockrell has directed many shows at LLT as well as Northeast Jones and West Jones High where she’s an art instructor.

Playing mother M’Lynn and daughter Shelby are Missy Sanderson and Katelyn Bryant.  Beauty salon owner Truvvy is cast with Jennifer Graveman, and her hair-do assistant Annelle is played by Alex Arnold.  Christy Liverett is town grouch, Ouiser, and Frankie Bennett plays the mayor’s wife Clairee.

Performances are expected to sell out, so reservations should be made in advance at 601.428.0140.  Send any questions to LLTLaurelMS@aol.com.
