After six years of waiting, “Kingdom Hearts 3” is finally here.
In June of 2013, at the E3 video game convention, Square Enix shocked the world with an announcement trailer for the next installment in the dearly beloved series “Kingdom Hearts.” It has been 13 years since “Kingdom Hearts 2” has come out and two years since “Kingdom Hearts 0.2” was released. Now in January of 2019, “Kingdom Hearts 3” is finally upon us.
“Kingdom Hearts 3” is the accumulation of everything fans of the series love. The game runs on a different engine compared to previous games, showcasing stunning and beautiful new graphics in a way that is simpler and cleaner than ever before. The gameplay works like a series of fireworks and keeps players engaged with every battle against the evil Heartless and Nobodies.
“Kingdom Hearts 3” is also the first game in the series to feature characters and playable worlds based off hit Pixar films such as “Toy Story” and “Monsters Inc.” However, the game also allows players to visit new Disney worlds as well based off box office successes like “Frozen,” “Tangled,” and “Big Hero 6.” There are also returning Disney worlds that have been playable in previous games such as “Hercules,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and “Winnie the Pooh.” Players will be able to find sanctuary in the fact that these worlds are much more expansive and livelier than they have ever been before, bringing a new sense of explorations as one travels through the Disney and Pixar worlds.
This time around “Kingdom Hearts 3” will bring characters in the series that will meet for the first time. Players will finally get the answers they have been waiting for surrounding the fates of characters such as Riku, Xion, and Aqua. While “Kingdom Hearts 3” will be the end of a saga that “Kingdom Hearts” has written and stretched out over the course of 17 years, it will not be the last game in the franchise. Players will still get the satisfaction of watching one chapter of the story end but can stay excited for the next installment yet to come.
“Kingdom Hearts 3” is a game of monumental size and has been one of the most anticipated games of 2019. Longtime fans of the series and newcomers alike should not think twice about picking up a copy next time they’re searching for a new adventure and game to start.
