This year, the hit show American Horror Story returns for its eighth season. This season, titled Apocalypse, revolves around an outpost that has survived a nuclear fallout. This season promises to be one of the darkest in the show’s history, but the main attraction is the long-awaited crossover between two of American Horror Story’s highest rated seasons, Murderhouse and Coven.
Apocalypse will follow the witches of Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies of Coven as they face the terrors that come with the end of the world. It will also involve the progression of the demonic offspring known as Michael Langdon, who was born at the end of Murderhouse. The season also introduces new characters such as Wilhemina Venable who is the leader of the outpost. Venable is played by the talented Sarah Paulson, who is an American Horror Story veteran. Paulson will take on the roles of three different characters this season: the aforementioned Venable, Coven’s supreme witch Cordelia Goode, and Murderhouse’s psychic Billie Dean Howard. Paulson, however, is not the only veteran to return this season. Also returning are actors such as Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Taissa Farmiga and Emma Roberts. Yet, fans are most excited for the return of Jessica Lange.
Lange was the drive for American Horror Story for the first four seasons. However, after the fourth season, Freak Show, Lange retired from the show, leaving fans devastated. Now, Lange will make her triumph return to American Horror Story by reprising her iconic role of Constance Langdon who was last seen raising the Michael Langdon in Murderhouse.
While the season has only just started, fans are excited to see how Apocalypse will pan out. It goes to show that Ryan Murphy, creator of American Horror Story, has created a hit series and proved himself worthy of a spot in the horror genre of television. American Horror Story comes on every Wednesday at 9 p.m. on FX.
