Families should come together during the holidays

The holidays are when one must sometimes put aside his or her pride in order to have a happy time. It is no secret that everyone has someone they do not like, but they sometimes have to be around the person. Outsiders can easily be avoided during the holidays, but what about disliked relatives?

It is tradition for relatives to come together during the holidays and enjoy each other, but should one be hypocritical just because of what time of year it is? All year family members express the strife towards one another by staying away and gossiping, so why should that suddenly change? Does it even matter if you show your true emotions toward that person?

The answer is simple. People should put aside petty dislikes, not to please themselves but to please the rest of the family. It may be tough to go without making comments that they have been wanting to say, but they will feel much better in the end once they see how happy their family is. In addition, when keeping the peace, one may also find out that he or she had a good time. However, if one chooses to take the alternate route, it could end horribly.

Families could be torn apart all because someone decided to stir up trouble. The question must be asked, is it really worth it?
