Students lack interest in the outside world

In today’s society, teenagers are highly involved with social media and various forms of technology. According to cnet.com 79 percent of people ages 18-24 have a smart phone. Students spend hour upon hour on their cell phones. They like photos, send snapchats and stalk their friends. As a consequence, teenagers have become oblivious to the world around them; they live in a bubble with no interest in the outside world. It is dangerous to be so self-involved.

Teenagers must stay informed in order to stay safe. How many students take the time to watch the news or be up to date on political issues? Students need to learn to keep up with what is happening in his or her community.

The “Radionian” encourages students to pick up a newspaper and learn. The JCJC newspaper is free and located in almost every building on campus.
